Our mission is to encourage all students, staff and faculty to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Nutrition plays a significant role in well being and wellness. Because young adults are developing dietary patterns that will continue through their lives, college is the perfect time to start making better choices.

Too busy to be healthy?

In the midst of a busy life, it can often seem like there isn’t time to eat well. While there are many things we cannot control in life, taking the steps to eat better is one thing everyone can do to reach the peak of health.

If eating healthy seems overwhelming or it feels like there is too much information of which to make sense, we are here to help! The dining halls are filled with sensible eats and with the some basic nutrition knowledge, every meal can be a healthy meal. This website offers knowledge and resources to help you achieve a healthy lifestyle.

We are committed to maintaining standards that promote health. Here are some examples of our nutrition standards:

  • We cook primarily from scratch, reducing the use of processed foods
  • We grill, bake, broil and sauté as an alternative to frying
  • We offer fresh fruits and vegetables at every meal
  • We offer meatless entrees at every meal
  • We offer a variety of whole-grain breads and bagels
  • We offer 2% and skim milk at all locations
  • We offer three freshly-squeezed juices at Frank hall and several 100% fruit juices at Frary hall
  • We cook with trans fat- and partially hydrogenated-free ingredients
  • We use MSG-free seasonings
  • We carefully source all food items to avoid additives and preservatives as much as possible
  • We use a variety of herbs and spices to reduce the use of salt

We also maintain high standards for food sourcing:

  • Our menus change seasonally to reflect the fresh produce available
  • Approximately 40% of the produce we serve is locally-grown (within 250 miles of campus)
  • We serve numerous organic products
  • The majority of the meat we use comes from hormone- and antibiotic-free animals that are fed a vegetarian diet and allowed access to the outdoors
  • Our milk is rbST-free and hormone-free
  • All eggs are cage free and Certified Humane
  • We purchase primarily sustainable seafood
  • We use locally-produced raw honey
  • We use freshly-baked, hand-crafted artisan bread that is free of additives and preservatives
