New Species of Ancient Predator Unearthed

Prof. Robert Gaines is co-author of a paper published today in Palaeontology describing a new lobster-like predator found in a 508 million-year-old fossil site in the Canadian Rockies. The creature, named Yawunik kootenayi, had large frontal claws that bore two long opposing rows of teeth that helped the animal catch its prey.
