Ongoing Programs

Sustainability Office (SO)

This office develops, administers, coordinates, and assesses sustainability programs and projects on campus. The office also includes a year-round student staff and manages ReCoop and Green Bikes.

President's Advisory Committee on Sustainability (PACS)

PACS produces yearly recommendations for the President and administers the President's Sustainability Fund. This committee also identifies and tracks measurable sustainability metrics in the Sustainability Annual Report and makes recommendations on improvements towards the sustainability strategic plan (SAVE) objectives.

President's Sustainability Fund (PSF)

Since 2007, this fund has provided over $60,000 in grant funding to students for on-campus sustainability projects. In the past two years, the PSF has funded composting, water efficiency, renewable energy, waste management, and other projects.

Collaboration with other institutions

The SO continued working with a variety of colleagues from other campuses throughout the year, including USC, UCLA, Caltech, Loyola Marymount, and Pepperdine to improve campus sustainability efforts.

Community collaboration for sustainability

Pomona College partners with Foothill Transit to provide free Class Pass transit passes to students, faculty, and staff.

The Sustainability Office collaborated with Sustainable Claremont for an Earth Day celebration and helped CicLAvia close 6.2 miles of street for pedestrian use.
