Victor Montgomery Music Library

The Victor Montgomery Music Library, located on the second floor of the Thatcher Music Building, is home to an extensive collection of books, printed music, and recordings which support the department's curriculum and research needs. The library owes its existence to the generosity of Gladys K. Montgomery, a Pomona trustee and an ardent supporter of the arts in Southern California, who donated funds for the library in memory of her husband.

The library underwent a large-scale renovation in 2022 that has expanded its capacity to house over 1,000 books and 10,000 scores. It now also provides a large and comfortable study area that overlooks Marston Quad, where students can work on their assignments or engage in group study sessions. In addition, the library is equipped with four iMac computer stations and a listening station, where students can access digital resources and listen to recordings. The library also houses a seminar room that can be used by study groups and smaller classes. The Montgomery library supplements the comprehensive music-research collection of the Claremont Colleges’ Honnold-Mudd Library.
