Alan T. Yeh

Alan T. Yeh is a scholar-teacher of 20th- and 21st-century French and francophone literature and culture. His research and teaching broadly concern how literary and aesthetic forms engage with the politics of care and memory, especially in colonial and postcolonial contexts. His current project examines the ways in which culinary encounters in diasporic Vietnamese literature and memory challenge conventional conceptions of care and food as care. In tandem with this project, he has been curating an oral history collection called The Mise-en-Place Archive, an alternative archive of refugee and immigrant stories of food and finding place in/through food. His research has been supported by the American Council of Learned Societies, Mellon Foundation, and UC Berkeley’s Center for Southeast Asian Studies.
