Snapshots that Shine: Top Moments from 2024 at Pomona College

The Pomona College community shared many memorable moments in 2024. From the excitement of the first day of classes to the Class of 2024 taking the commencement stage, we have much to reflect on and celebrate. Here’s a look back at some of our most engaging stories and moments from the past year.

On a rare rainy day on campus, some students reveled in the novelty, snapping photos of the gray skies, while others rushed to stay dry, unprepared for the unexpected weather. It was a fleeting moment of change, making the campus feel both unfamiliar and refreshing.

Della Anjeh ’16 Launches Dual Careers

By day, Della Anjeh ’16 works as a software engineer at Google. On evenings and weekends from September to January, she moonlights as a cheerleader for the San Francisco 49ers. Her experiences at Pomona College helped launch both of her disparate careers.

Caps Off to the Class of 2024

The Class of 2024 walked the commencement stage on May 13, and their accomplishments and hard work were on full display.

Painting it Forward

Katriel Ford ’23 enjoys painting really big things, but finding large canvases, she says, “is a struggle in itself.” Fortunately, after opening in October 2023, the Pomona College Community Engagement Center had blank walls to spare. Ford, an art major, completed a mural inside.

Move-in Day Magic

Move-in Day was a whirlwind of excitement, nerves and endless possibilities. Students arrived at Pomona College with cars packed full of belongings, from suitcases to mini-fridges, ready to transform their residence hall rooms into cozy homes away from home.

Excellence on Display

Pomona students showcased the results and experiences of their summer research and internships in the annual Intensive Summer Experience Symposium. The symposium included a combination of poster presentations along Stover Walk as well as project presentations at Smith Campus Center.

As An Exoneree, Ruben Piñuelas ’21 is Accomplishing the ‘Impossible’

As someone who felt life would always be an uphill battle, Ruben Piñuelas '21 credits Pomona College for giving him the resources to pursue a career in law. “Pomona knows how to push you,” he says, “but also how to let you grow at your own pace.”
