    Expertise

    Vanessa Fadial, D.M.A., is a breathtaking pianist known for her warmth and collaborative spirit. Her endearing personality shines through all of her solo and chamber music performances. She performs regularly with members of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and has played in recital at Zipper and Thayer halls at the Colburn School; at Pasadena City College’s Westerbeck Recital Hall; the Four Seasons Chamber Music Series in Berkeley, California; and the University of Wyoming Artists Recital Series. Contemporary music is a key component of Fadial’s repertoire. She has performed works by Brad Lubman, Robert Aldridge, Jennifer Higdon, Crumb, Berio, Ligeti and Cage.

    Fadial’s students have won the national YoungArts award, the national division of the Music Teachers National Association Junior Performance Competition, the Chopin Foundation Scholarship Award, the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition and most recently have been chosen to compete in the Palm Springs International Piano Competition. She has prepared students to earn spots at Oberlin Conservatory and Eastman School of Music, among others. She is on the piano faculty at the Colburn School, is co-chair of the piano department at the Montecito International Music Festival and is on the core faculty of Colburn’s Tonebase Piano Seminar.

    In addition to a D.M.A. from Stony Brook University, Fadial holds degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and Oberlin Conservatory.

    Fadial recently released the recording Americana to critical acclaim with violinist Anyango Yarbo Davenport. Pulitzer Prize-winner Jennifer Higdon called their interpretation of String Poetic “spectacular and riveting.”
