Moving Policy & Procedure

July 1, 2022

Moving Service is provided to assist departments with the movement of items (furniture, equipment, boxes, etc.) from one location to another. Coordinating this service is the responsibility of Facilities and Campus Services (FCS).

All requests for moving services must be submitted with a cost center via the TMA Work Management System. Once submitted, FCS will contact the requesting department to clarify scope, complexity and other factors impacting the move. Based on these factors, FCS will determine the use of in-house staff or contractor provided service.

If it is determined that “in-house” staff can perform the work, the move will occur within 72 business hours of the approved work order and invoiced at a rate of $70.00 per hour, per person. For safety considerations, a minimum of two staff will be assigned to the move.

If it is determined that an outside contractor will perform the work, the selected contractor will reach out to the requester to view the site and develop a “not to exceed” cost estimate. Once the cost estimate is approved by the requestor, FCS will coordinate the logistics of the move.

Please note: Costs for moving services that are related to an approved project are typically included in the project cost estimate and are not a part of this process.
