Pomona actively seeks to enroll qualified men and woman who are veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, and believes the life experiences and perspectives of veterans are a valuable addition to the classroom and community.
Costs and Financial Aid
Pomona is a member of the Yellow Ribbon Program through the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Pomona College also commits to meeting the full demonstrated financial need of all applicants, making a Pomona education accessible to eligible veterans, regardless of financial means. Veteran applicants for whom the application fee ($70) will pose a financial burden are encouraged to contact the Office of Admissions to discuss the possibility of a fee waiver.
For more information regarding financial aid programs for veterans, please visit the Office of Financial Aid website.
Applying for Admission
Veterans should follow the same application procedures as other applicants for admission as first-year students or transfer students. Detailed information on the application process can be found on the First-Year Applicants or Transfer Applicants page.
In addition, veterans are welcome to provide additional materials to supplement their application. This might include further explanation of a candidate’s educational record and/or a supplementary essay addressing his or her military experience and how it has influenced his or her readiness and desire for further education.
Veterans considering Pomona are strongly encouraged to arrange an interview with one of the admissions staff members. While not required, such a conversation may help answer important questions about the college and clarify whether Pomona is an appropriate choice.
For more information about applying as a veteran, please email Associate Dean of Admission Joel Hart, or call him at (909) 621-8731.
