Pomona College, founded in 1887, has been a major filming destination in Southern California since 1921. The College is set on 140 acres that include forested land and other natural spaces, courtyards and fountains, an outdoor amphitheater, a 2400-seat auditorium fashioned after the Northern Italian Renaissance style, and many other examples of both classic and modern architecture. The diverse interior and exterior locations make the campus suitable to be “Anywhere USA,” having stood in for locations from Washington D.C. to New England to the Midwest to the Southwest, all in a single, Los Angeles adjacent location.
The campus allows space for staging of all related departments and operations. With ample parking available for cast, crew, trucks and basecamp, both large and small productions can be easily and effectively accommodated. As the industry implements new guidelines to keep productions safe and healthy, our flexible outdoor space is an asset that allows for proper spacing between all departments. The campus also fits into the extended zone recently developed by the California Film Commission, making it even more accessible outside of the hustle and bustle of filming in the city center
Exterior settings at Pomona College offer many beautiful buildings and green spaces that could be the perfect backdrop for photographs or portraits (wedding, engagement, family). Both personal and commercial photo sessions on campus require a photography permit, which allow two hours on campus, upon approval. Photo permit requests must be submitted two weeks in advance.
