FCS Advisory Committee

Statement of Purpose

The Facilities and Campus Services Student Advisory Committee exists to strengthen communication and collaboration between Pomona College students and Facilities and Campus Services (FCS). The committee provides a structured forum for student input on campus facilities, operations, sustainability, accessibility, and service priorities, ensuring that campus spaces and services support student learning, well-being, and community life.

Goals

1. Enhance Student Engagement
   Foster meaningful student participation in discussions related to campus facilities, grounds, housing, dining, transportation, sustainability, and infrastructure planning.
2. Improve Transparency and Communication
   Create a clear, two-way channel for sharing information about FCS initiatives, constraints, timelines, and decision-making processes.
3. Support Continuous Improvement
   Use student perspectives to help FCS identify opportunities to improve services, campus environments, and operational effectiveness.
4. Promote Inclusive and Sustainable Practices
   Elevate student voices related to accessibility, equity, environmental stewardship, and long-term sustainability of campus facilities.

Objectives

• Provide regular opportunities for students to share feedback, concerns, and ideas regarding FCS services and campus conditions.
• Advise FCS leadership on the student experience related to facilities planning, maintenance, and service delivery.
• Collaborate on identifying priorities for short- and long-term facilities improvements.
• Review and offer student perspectives on proposed policies, projects, or initiatives that impact campus spaces.
• Support campus sustainability and resilience goals through student-informed recommendations.
• Build mutual understanding of operational realities while amplifying student needs and expectations.
• Serve as a representative body that reflects diverse student experiences across residential, academic, and co-curricular spaces.
