Information About Pomona’s Investments

As of June 30, 2018, Pomona College’s endowment was valued at $2.3 billion. In addition, the College had $325 million of other invested assets, which are predominantly associated with the College’s charitable giving plans.

The Endowment: Purpose and Process

Pomona’s endowment exists to support the College’s mission to enable students to identify and address their intellectual passions. The endowment is managed so as to provide sustainable income distributions to the College’s annual operating budget in perpetuity, while also maintaining the real purchasing power of the endowment. In FY ’17-18, endowment distributions funded 53% of the Colleges operating expenses and was the largest source of revenue for the College. The spending policy is structured so that endowment spending over time averages between 4.5% and 5.5% as a percent of preceding endowment market value.
