AQMD Survey Results: Progress on Sustainable Commuting

Dear Sagehens,

Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Commute Survey. Our 80% survey participation rate across faculty, staff and student employees reflects our collective commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainability and responsible resource management—and is part of an important reporting requirement with the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

The information gathered through this survey helps us better understand how members of our community commute to campus. We learned that we surpassed AQMD’s Average Vehicle Ridership (AVR) target of 1.50 with an AVR of 1.65. AVR measures the average number of people traveling in a vehicle and our target is intended to reduce single-occupancy vehicle trips and encourage alternative transportation options.

Pomona actively supports sustainable commuting through employee transportation benefits, including up to $100 per month toward rideshare and public transportation expenses for eligible employees.

The insight we gathered from the survey will support future planning efforts and help inform programs, resources and initiatives that enhance the employee experience and advance our sustainability goals.

Thank you for your partnership, your engagement and all that you do to support our community every day.

With appreciation,

G. Gabrielle Starr
President
