Dear Sagehens,
At Pomona, we seek to create a welcoming and inclusive campus where mutual respect, dialogue and civility are valued.
This is vitally important to our mission as a liberal arts college.
During the 2019-2020 school year, we conducted a campus climate survey to assess where we were doing well, and where we might improve. The results from that survey inspired a salary equity study, helped define the mission for our staff, faculty and student wellness programs, created an enhanced faculty mentoring and retention program, and led to a new staff evaluation process that focused more intently on career development opportunities.
During the Spring 2026 semester, Pomona will conduct a follow-up campus climate survey to determine if our actions have led to positive, lasting changes. We have once again contracted with Rankin Climate to lead this effort.
A Rankin Climate team will work with a committee of Pomona students, staff and faculty to develop and carry out the survey. The results will help us strengthen existing programs that have shown to be successful, and develop new programs and policies to improve campus climate. A project website will provide updates and results as the survey is carried out.
Each of you will have an opportunity to make your voice heard by taking the survey this spring. Thank you for supporting this important project to help make Pomona a place where everyone feels welcome and included.
Sincerely,
Gabi
