Let us help you reduce your environmental impacts! The Sustainability Office offers Greenware, laundry racks, compost buckets, free LED light bulbs, and more to help you reduce your impacts! All checkouts are free. Please see our list of fees for lost or broken items.

Having an event on campus? Use free, reusable Greenware! We have plates, cups, bowls and utensils available for free checkout. All items are made from 100% recycled plastic and are BPA and melamine free.

How does it work?

  1. Request your kit: At least two business days before your event (the earlier the better), request a kit by filling out this form. Let us know how many of each item you need (up to 100 of each), and we’ll email you when your order is ready for pickup from the SO.
  2. Use your kit: Use the Greenware at your event. When finished, place everything back in the bin— no need to clean! Be sure to count the items; any missing items will be charged to your account.
  3. Return your kit: Within one business day after your event, return your kit to the SO. We will clean everything for you!

Bicycle U-Locks

Safely lock your bike with a U-lock, one of the most secure bike locks available. Locks are available for rent through Green Bikes for a small price of $5 per year. Email GreenBikes@pomona.edu to request a bike lock.

Compost Buckets

Map of compost bin locations on campus.

Deposit compostable waste at outdoor tumblers, dorm kitchen buckets, or outdoor dorm buckets.

Compost buckets are available in most of the dorm kitchens or just outside of the dorm's main entrance. Use these handy buckets, complete with air filter, to collect vegetable and fruit scraps. The buckets are collected weekly by Farm compost drivers.

Power Strips

Did you know that devices left plugged in still use energy, even when turned off? Reduce your “vampire” load by using a power strip and turning off items when not in use! A limited supply of power strips is available for checkout from the SO thanks to a President’s Sustainability Fund project. Email sustainability@pomona.edu to place your checkout request. You will also be asked to complete a short survey before and after checkout in order to gather data on energy habits.

LED Bulbs

Free LED bulbs are always available in the SO. LED bulbs use one-tenth of the energy of a traditional incandescent bulb.

Diva Cups

Free Diva Cups are available in the SO. Diva Cups are reusable and made from medical-grade silicone, promoting a waste-free and chemical-free period. Detailed information can be found at the Diva Cup website.
