This session aims to foster dialogue around the pressing challenges connected to academic integrity violations committed by graduate and professional students. Presenters will provide a brief overview of trends seen at Columbia University and how SCCS works with each college to address the specific needs of their unique population. Contract cheating, record disclosures, clinical performance, and professional/ethical standards will all be explored. Participants are encouraged to share their campus trends and innovative solutions to what are often complex high stakes issues.

At Georgetown, we are engaging in a collaborative process this May to rethink and refresh our approach to educational sanctioning. Through a facilitated team process during Georgetown's annual "Teaching Learning and Innovation Summer Institute" we will work with colleagues from various student affairs departments to consider the goals of our educational sanctions, develop frameworks and assessment methods, and create an enhanced menu of options for our hearing officers. With COFHE, we hope to continue the discussion of educational sanctioning, sharing some of what we learn from our process, and facilitating sharing of ideas and resources among our COFHE group.

This presentation will explore mindfulness practice in the context of student conduct work.  Specifically, the presentation will explore mindfulness as self-care in what is often stressful work, as well as a practice that can potentially improve our ability as conduct professionals to meaningfully engage with those coming through our offices. This session will offer opportunities to practice mindfulness.

This session will provide legal updates on Title IX NPRM (the new proposed federal guidelines), student misconduct fair hearing litigation (mostly Title IX-focused), and recent trends connected to mental health accommodations. As time permits, there will be an opportunity for general Q&A.

Preventing and responding to campus threat, Thom Julian

Preventing and responding to campus threat requires a dedication to campus collaboration and training. In 2016, Oberlin College researched and implemented their first Threat Assessment Team. This session is going to discuss the implementation of a Threat Assessment Team, the key differences between a Behavioral Intervention Team and a Threat Assessment Team, and best practices in the field. In addition, we are going to hold a sample threat assessment meeting to display questioning techniques, record keeping, and meeting etiquette.
