Zena Almeida-Warwin ’28 and Sarah Owosina ’29 were among the more than 500 undergraduate and graduate students to accept the highly competitive eight-week Critical Language Scholarship this year.

Environmental analysis majors Clara Chae ’27 and Teagan Smith ’28 interned this summer with Tradewater, a certified B-corporation and Pomona College partner whose mission is to prevent powerful greenhouse gases from polluting the atmosphere.

Through PCIP funding, Malu Estoducto ’27, Freddie Ambrose ’27, Ashley Dangol ’28 and Carlin Lee ’28 each interned with government or government-adjacent organizations this summer. 

Pomona College’s talented and diverse Class of 2030, which arrived on campus last month, consists of 414 first-year students from across the country and the world.

More than 8,200 Pomona College alumni, families and friends contributed $63.8 million in gifts and pledges during the 2025-26 fiscal year, the second-largest fundraising year in the College’s history. 

A dozen new faculty joined Pomona College in tenure-track, tenured and coterminous positions ahead of the 2026-27 academic year. Three professors—including an alumnus—taught at the College previously.

Beckman Scholars Eva Chen ’27 and Ryan Mooney ’27 started their 15-month mentored research experience this summer, their recognition by Pomona College’s selection committee indicative of their promise as undergraduate researchers.

The Music Department’s free fall concert series will feature student performances of major works such as Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5, a new chamber opera composed by Assistant Professor of Music Ania Vu, and music from across the globe.

The first week of classes at Pomona College is underway, and Convocation on Tuesday marked the ceremonial start to the academic year.

Meagan Tokunaga Block ’15 cut her teeth in public service at Pomona, where she earned degrees in public policy analysis (with a concentration in environmental analysis) and politics. She also started 140 games for the Sagehens’ softball team.
