Lindsay Stadler started as Pomona College registrar Monday, June 1, after serving in the role on an interim basis since August.
She was chosen following an extensive national search.
Between her time at Claremont Graduate University (CGU) and Pomona, Stadler has worked in various registrar’s office capacities for more than a decade.
She also understands what it’s like to be a consortium student, having earned her bachelor’s degree from Claremont McKenna College and her master’s from CGU.
“I have been around The Claremont Colleges the vast majority of my adult life,” says Stadler, who started at Pomona in 2022. “I feel I’ve grown up professionally here, and I’m really fortunate to have such supportive and collaborative colleagues in registrar’s offices around the consortium.”
What a registrar does “depends on the day, the hour, sometimes the minute,” Stadler says.
Chiefly, the position enforces faculty policies and regulations for students and supports the dean of the College. The registrar ensures that academic records are maintained with integrity; oversees the technology that enables such essential functions as class registration, course scheduling and grade posting; and sees that the College is adhering to various regulatory compliance requirements.
Brent Carbajal, interim vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College, lauded Stadler’s administrative acumen and experience, saying her myriad skills “situate her very well to serve campus in this role.”
“I want to help people figure out ways through complex situations,” Stadler says, “and that hopefully their lives are changed as a result. My goal is to build upon the strong foundation we already have and to make things as good as they can possibly be.”
