From winter break we transition into a new spring semester at Pomona College in just a few days. This semester, the College breaks in the new decade with a host of big events on campus from late January to early May.
“Red Velvet,” as presented on Pomona’s Seaver Theatre stage, will differ from “Red Velvet” as written. The work about the great classical black actor Ira Aldridge is reimagined as a tale of triumph rather than tragedy.
“Crumbs from the Table of Joy” has themes that deeply resonate with the issues of our day, according to Saundra McClain who is directing students in this final play of the Pomona College Theatre Department’s 2018-2019 season.
The Pomona College campus springs into action after the long winter break with an event for every kind of interest, ranging from comics to climate impact — with some history, award-winning music and family time thrown in.
