When Ernesto Gutiérrez Topete ’17 received his Ph.D. this past summer, he became the first Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowship alumnus from the Claremont Colleges to achieve that goal. He will be teaching phonetics at Pomona.
Peter Heckendorn ’22 has been awarded a Coro Fellowship for Public Affairs for 2023-2024. He will learn about how policies are shaped through meetings with city leaders, rotational field placements across various industries and weekly seminars.
For 20 years, the Pomona College Academy for Youth Success has helped students in Greater Los Angeles get ready for college through an intensive, three-summer residential program on campus. Students have gone on to attend the nation’s top colleges.
