We exchange small amounts of produce for volunteer labor and also cook with our produce at potlucks and cooking workshops. Additionally, you can also purchase our produce through a few different avenues.
Every few weeks, the Farm will sell fresh produce, t-shirts, and value-added products at Farm Stand, which takes place in the courtyard of the Smith Campus Center (located on 6th St. just east of College Ave). Check our Events page or our Facebook page to see upcoming Farm Stands.
Sagehen Café Specials
Every Friday, the Sagehen Café serves a weekly lunch special that incorporates vegetables, fruits, and herbs from the Farm. The Sagehen Café is located in the Smith Campus Center on 6th St. just east of College Ave. Lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Farm Specials sell out fast, so get there early! Summer Produce Boxes
Because there are not enough students to run a full Farm Stand during the summer, the Farm runs a produce box program during the summer months. Our program is modeled after a CSA, (“Community Supported Agriculture”) where customers pay for a “share” of the farm and receive a percentage of whatever is grown, depending on what is in season and available. Due to limited produce supply, this program is available only to Pomona College faculty and staff.
Participation in the Farm’s produce box program is week-to-week (but you can order multiple weeks in advance). Sign up is first-come, first-served, but orders are not confirmed until payment has been received. If you sign up and then decide you would like additional weeks, simply fill out another form. If you sign up and then realize you need to cancel some or all of the dates, just e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org at least 48 hours in advance of the pick-up date.
Payment is $10 per box and must be received by Monday at 5pm on the week of your box pickup or your order will be cancelled. Please pay with cash or check (written out to “Pomona College – Farm”) delivered via campus mail or dropped off in the folder at PO Seeley Mudd 130B. Our online payment system is currently being upgraded. The link will be available once the new system is up and running. Once payment is received, refunds will only be made in the event that we are not able to create a produce box for you.
Pick up your box from the West Farm picnic tables outside of the Earth Dome on Wednesday mornings between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. (earlier pickup ensures better quality). Boxes will be premade, but there will be some flexibility for adding or removing certain items (depending on supply and demand). Over the years, produce boxes have included tomatoes, chard, flowers, beans, summer squash, spicy and sweet peppers, nopales, eggplant, basil, onions, garlic, heat-tolerant greens, figs, mulberries, culinary herbs, and more.
