Ralph Bolton ’61, professor emeritus of anthropology and a leading researcher in HIV transmission, died December 3. The Society for Applied Anthropology gave Bolton the prestigious Bronislaw Malinowski Award in March 2025.

Karl G. Johnson, the Sara Rampel and Herbert S. Rampel Professor of Neuroscience who inspired students at Pomona College for nearly 20 years, passed away July 19. He won the Wig Distinguished Professor Award twice and led an active research lab.
