The Class of 2026 has been on campus for about a month and is settling into classes and extracurricular activities. Five members of the first year class share what brought them to Pomona, how it’s been so far and what their hopes are.

Pomona College welcomes eight new faculty to tenure-track and tenured positions this fall.

Russell Corbin ’23 does advocacy work for electric vehicles and earlier this month spoke at the nation’s biggest electric vehicle show.

At a time when California was experiencing megadrought and landscape water restrictions lay ahead,  Jacob Greene ‘23 saw opportunity. He created a plan for converting more than 17,000 square feet of grass to drought-friendly landscape.

The National Science Foundation awarded a $114,000 grant to geology department chair Jade Star Lackey. He and fellow researchers will measure halogen concentrations in igneous rocks that formed California’s Sierra Nevadas.  

President Starr has been inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in a ceremony held in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Sept. 10.

Critical Inquiry seminars are the academic initiation for new students at Pomona, as they prepare students for the educational rigor of Pomona through intensive reading, writing and discussion. 

From sciences to the arts, Pomona faculty and staff members secured numerous grant awards during the 2021–22 academic year.

The Institute for Inclusive Excellence will serve as the hub for existing Pomona programs that foster inclusive environments, develop new programming, and provide program assessment and outcomes reporting.
