Solomon Amendment Data Requests
The Solomon Amendment is a federal law that requires institutions receiving certain federal agency funding (including federal financial aid) to fulfill military recruitment requests for access to campus and for lists containing basic student information. It provides branches of the military access to limited student information which would have been denied to them otherwise under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
Pomona College students that have restricted the release of their directory information restriction (e.g., placed a "FERPA block") will not have their information released under the Solomon Amendment, nor will information by shared for individuals not recently enrolled or who are under age 17.
Additional information regarding the Solomon Amendment may be found here.
