Learning Outcomes

Students will have the opportunity to:

  • Observe and analyze the natural environment;
  • Analyze complex systems over a wide range of temporal and spatial scales;
  • Frame and address a scientific question;
  • Be exposed to good habits of data collection and analysis;
  • Digest and synthesize the technical literature;
  • Apply quantitative reasoning and logic to problem solving;
  • Develop the ability to use modern analytic methods and equipment;
  • Be exposed to the importance of interdisciplinary, e.g., the roles of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Biology;
  • Participate in collaborative problem solving; and
  • Present scientific studies formally (orally and in writing).
