36th Woodford-Eckis Lectureship Feb 17th-18th

The Geology Department is pleased to announce that the 36th annual Woodford Eckis lectureship will be held on February 17th and 18th, 2016.

This year’s honored guest is Prof. Jim Secord (PO ’75). Jim Secord is professor of History and Philosophy of Science at Cambridge University. His research interests include Social history of science since 1750; life and earth sciences; history of science communication.

At 8:15 PM in the Rose Hills Theater (Smith Campus Center), Prof. Secord will deliver a lecture entitled “Global Geology and the Empire of Tectonics”  This talk is intended for a general audience, and is open to the public.

At 11AM in the Rose Hills Theater (Smith Campus Center), Prof. Secord will deliver a lecture entitled “Charles Darwin and the World of Geology   This talk is also intended for a general audience, and is also open to the public.
