For the purpose of this policy, external media shall refer to representatives of newspapers, magazines, newsletters, television, radio and online publications (including social media channels and content). These guidelines are a complement to the College’s Filming & Photography on Campus policy, which provides guidance for commercial photographers and film professionals.
Guidelines
While we aim to be as transparent as possible with external media, our priority is to maintain an educational environment in which members of our community have reasonable expectations of privacy and safety. Media should contact the Pomona College Office of Communications directly to schedule interviews with community members or to request access to campus. Since Pomona College is private property, media access to campus can be limited or prohibited in certain cases, as determined by the Office of Communications.
While on the Pomona campus, news media representatives will typically be accompanied by a Communications Office staff member or an employee designated by the Communications Office.
Pomona College complies with all applicable federal and state laws regarding the retention and release of personal and/or educational records of all current employees and students, and complies with all applicable privacy and security laws, including FERPA.
