Pomona College has been named one of the top producers of U.S. Fulbright students for 2021-22 among baccalaureate institutions, as reported today by The Chronicle of Higher Education.
The Fulbright program seeks to promote international understanding by offering awards for one year of research, university study or English language teaching abroad. For 2021-22, five recipients from Pomona College were awarded Fulbright grants. At Pomona College, the Fulbright competition is administered through the Career Development Office.
The Fulbright Program was established over 75 years ago to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries. Fulbright is the world’s largest and most diverse international educational exchange program. The primary source of funding for the Fulbright Program is an annual appropriation made by the U.S. Congress to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Pomona is one of the founding members of the undergraduate colleges and two graduate institutions that make up the consortium of The Claremont Colleges. Pomona students may supplement the College’s already comprehensive curriculum by taking classes at any of the undergraduate Claremont Colleges. The more than 2,700 courses available include intercollegiate majors and a wide range of language offerings.
Bowdoin College was No. 1 on the list of top producers of Fulbrights for bachelor’s institutions.
