Pomona College will once again have a physical presence in Pomona with the October 14 opening of a new community center in the city’s downtown Arts Colony.

This past spring, Kirsten Housen ’23 earned a bachelor of science from Washington University along with a bachelor of arts from Pomona as part of Pomona’s 3-2 combined plan in engineering.

On Saturday, October 6, 1923, the Sagehens of Pomona College played USC in the first varsity college football game ever played on the field of the then-new Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The stadium is celebrating its centennial in 2023.

Masago Armstrong helped thousands of students stay on track during her 30 years as registrar of Pomona College. Now, leaving a $1 million gift for scholarships at her passing, Armstrong will continue to shape students’ lives for years to come.

This summer, Lilly Bar ’23, Benjamin Cheng ’24 and Arivumani Srivastava ’26 made vast language gains as participants in the U.S. Department of State’s Critical Language Scholarship program.

Stephen A. Erickson, emeritus professor of philosophy, passed away on September 20 at the age of 83.

Amanda Eric ’25 is driven to help global communities facing climate change challenges and has landed a scholarship to aid in this mission. Announced in late August, Eric was awarded the 2023 Obama-Chesky Scholarship for Public Service.
