Thomas Aguilar '27 and Ricardo Camacho '27 became friends when they were both in the Pomona College Academy for Youth Success (PAYS) program. Now they are first-year students and roommates at Pomona College.

Sagehens forward Ka Kiu (Kyle) Lau ’25 donned his home city’s uniform last fall at the Olympics-styled multi-sport extravaganza, playing in front of thousands of fans during Hong Kong’s historic run to a fourth-place finish in soccer.

Masha Prokopenko, visiting assistant professor of geology, is part of a team that has received an NSF grant to explore how apparent “deserts” in the North Pacific Ocean defy the odds and obtain the nutrients they need to sustain the ecosystem.

Pomona College’s commencement ceremony, taking place May 12, 2024, will feature four distinguished speakers: Tani Cantil-Sakauye, Cecilia Conrad, Harry Elam and Emil Kakkis ’82.

Margaret (“Peggy”) Dornish, emerita professor of religious studies, died in San Marcos, California, on December 27 at the age of 89. 

Hudson Colletti ’27 was classically trained at a young age and fell hard for the piano. The Pomona first-year student has since given others in his home state of Pennsylvania a chance to fall in love with the ivories too.

Zoë Batterman ’24, a mathematics major, has been awarded the prestigious Churchill Scholarship.
