On this beautiful May day here on our spectacular campus, I want to begin this summary of a productive semester by celebrating our graduating class of 2025.

Congratulations on the successful conclusion of the teaching term yesterday. As we approach the celebratory part of the academic year, I want to update you on the latest federal developments, consistent with my updates throughout this semester.

As you know, on March 27 the College received a letter requesting certain information from the College by April 10. We have been working with legal counsel and other advisors to fully understand every aspect of the committee’s request.

Consistent with my commitment to keeping you informed as best as we can, I also reach out today with a brief update on several matters that have surfaced over the last few days related to the College and higher education nationally.

I write this latest update on federal developments related to higher education as we turn toward the final stretch of the academic year.

I have been made aware of a flyer being distributed on campus that suggests the College will expose student identities in its response to the recent Congressional inquiry we received.

I write to share with you that this past Thursday afternoon, the College received a letter jointly signed by the chairs of the U.S. House Committee on Education and Workforce and its Subcommittee on Higher Education and Workforce Development.

As I write with my latest update on developments in Washington related to higher education, I do so with hopes that you are doing okay in the aftermath of last night’s scary developments. 

I write to update you on the latest developments from Washington, D.C. that are impacting our College community. In doing so, I first want to reaffirm without equivocation Pomona’s enduring mission of providing quality education to talented students.
