Technology Access Program: Laptop Program
Launching in Fall 2026, the Technology Access Program is an ITS‑led pilot program created to ensure Pomona College first-year students have consistent access to reliable, academically capable technology. The initiative supports the College’s strategic priorities in digital equity and student success.
Eligible first-year students will receive a notification from Pomona’s Office of Financial Aid letting them know that an Apple laptop will be issued to them. Each device is set up to meet Pomona’s academic, security, and technology standards. ITS manages the setup process, software and security updates, device tracking, and ongoing support throughout a student’s time at the College. After successfully graduating from Pomona, students can keep their laptop as part of the program’s long‑term support model of success after Pomona.
Objectives
- Ensure students have the technology they need by providing a laptop to those who can’t afford one, removing financial barriers that impact academic work.
- Promote digital equity by offering laptops to students with financial need who don’t already have a reliable device.
- Support academic readiness by making sure students have a current, fully functional laptop that can run required software and meet course expectations.
Eligibility and Scope
The laptop program is currently operating as a limited pilot. Eligibility is determined by student need and the financial aid award.
