Highlighted Initiatives
Building the Center for Global Engagement
In May 2026, construction began on the new interdisciplinary Center for Global Engagement, with occupancy planned for the start of the 2028-2029 academic year. The 100,000-square-foot liberal arts laboratory will serve as the hub of the College’s globally focused programs that address complex challenges locally and around the world.
Global Collaborative
Through Global Collaborative, a signature program of the Center for Global Engagement, students and faculty will use hands-on learning to address complex issues, both global and local. They will harness the power of diverse perspectives, creativity and collaboration. Approaches may include community-campus partnerships, faculty-student teams and problem-based research.
Global Gateways
Global Gateways courses offer opportunities for students to address major issues through experiential learning internationally and domestically. Courses are led by faculty and vary in length, providing options for students whose academic pathways may not allow for an entire semester away from campus. Many are team-taught and approach a theme across disciplines, modeling for students the kinds of global collaboration the world’s challenges today require.
Institute for Inclusive Excellence
The Institute for Inclusive Excellence provides resources and training to ensure that the academic experience of all students promotes feelings of inclusion and belonging, whether in the classroom or in mentoring. The goal is a vibrant community that supports diversity while engaging students and challenging them to grow into their full potential.
Return to Pomona
Alumni share their experience and expertise with current students through the cross-generational Return to Pomona program. Alumni involvement takes many forms. Some Return to Pomona participants teach courses on campus. Others give lectures and presentations, offer guidance to students or collaborate with faculty. Involvement ranges from a day to an entire semester.

New endowed faculty positions honor exceptional faculty and create lasting support for faculty excellence across teaching, scholarship and mentorship. Each made possible by the generosity of donors, these investments stand in perpetuity to provide vital support while cultivating a lasting legacy of distinguished scholarship and leadership. Not only a recognition of exemplary scholarship and service to the College, endowed professorships also help attract and retain extraordinary talent that deepens the Pomona experience for students and enriches probing inquiry at the College.
