Flourishing and Inclusion

At Pomona, “bridges” isn’t just a campus venue. Bridges are what we’re always building—between ideas and disciplines, and among each other. The interconnectedness inherent in a liberal arts education, in our community, and at The Claremont Colleges consortium leads to a thriving academic environment and a richer understanding of the world around us. Through expanded, inventive programming that supports mental, physical and emotional well-being, we nurture our whole community and elevate our ability to pursue transformative knowledge.

Highlighted Initiatives

The Center for Athletics, Recreation and Wellness

The Center for Athletics, Recreation and Wellness (CARW) serves as the home of Sagehen Athletics and a space for students, faculty and staff to access healthy activity. Between the fitness area, recreational gym and assortment of studios used for various classes, the CARW offers no shortage of activities promoting a healthy lifestyle—the backbone of student wellness and success.

Career Development Initiative

No matter the field, Pomona alumni enter the workforce prepared to make tangible impacts on the issues of our time. During their studies, students are encouraged to apply to partake in hands-on research experiences through SURP and career-focused internships through PCIP. Already, our reporting shows an overwhelming majority of recent graduates participate in career activities such as jobs, internships, service opportunities, further education, fellowships or another form of post-graduate path. The pool of successful alumni grows by the year.

Through this strategic initiative, the College has set an ambitious goal: ensuring that every student is given the opportunity to participate in a SURP or PCIP experience while at Pomona.

Health and Wellness Initiative/Thriving Workplace Culture

Pomona employees can access the campus Hamilton Health Box Clinic (HHB) for medical treatment at a time that is convenient for them. Staffed with a team of physicians, physician assistants, nurses and medical assistants, HHB provides fast and reliable care to help protect our community.

Additionally, the College offers myriad programs—child care, fitness and wellness, PTO—to encourage employees to strike a healthy balance between their work and personal lives.

Dialogue Initiative

Every student, faculty and staff member at Pomona can participate meaningfully in discussions on politics, race, faith and campus culture. The College’s Dialogue Initiative provides intentional and institution-wide training and conflict resolution in hopes of weaving civility and respectful exchange into the fabric of the Pomona culture.
