Pomona College offers a flexible benefits program, which allows employees to make individual benefits selections based on personal needs. Employees will have the opportunity to make benefits selections each year at Open Enrollment. Eligibility for this program is full-time and part-time regular employment, scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week. Temporary employees scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week for a minimum of a 12-month period are eligible for benefits excluding long-term disability. Complete benefits program details.

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program offers confidential advice and counseling services to eligible employees and their immediate family members available 24/7 relating to issues such as parenting, loss or grievance, relationship problems, substance abuse, self-improvement, mental health, financial concerns, and legal-referral assistance. 

Flexible Spending Accounts

Employee contributions are deducted from paycheck on a pre-tax basis.

Description

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) allow employees to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for certain out-of-pocket eligible expenses and dependent care costs.

Long-Term Disability

Who Pays

The Claremont Colleges currently pays the full premium cost of long-term disability. 

Effective

First day of employment if working 30 hours or more. 

Description

Employees may apply for long-term disability (LTD) coverage after being disabled for 180 days. LTD coverage could pay 66⅔ percent of employee’s covered monthly salary, up to a maximum benefit of $15,000 per month. 

Long-Term Care

Employee’s age and selected plan at first enrollment determine the employee’s monthly premium rate for the coverage.

Description

Long-term care insurance provides enrollees with access to personal assistance from care coordinators who are knowledgeable in the field of long-term care. In addition to conventional nursing home coverage, the policy covers services received in employee’s own home. Other types of care facilities may be covered.

Description

The benefit amount is equal to one times the employee’s basic annual earnings (rounded to the next $1,000). The minimum coverage amount is $20,000, and the maximum coverage amount is $50,000. 

Supplemental Life Insurance

Employees pay the full premium cost of coverage. Premiums are deducted from employee’s paycheck on an after-tax basis.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment

Description

Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance protects employees and their families in the event of an accident-related death or dismemberment. AD&D Insurance is available in the following amounts:

Academic Retirement Plan

Who Pays

Pomona College contributes 10% of the employee’s annual salary upon satisfying the service requirement and attainment of age 21.

Employee voluntary elective deferrals can be made on a pre-tax or Roth after-tax basis upon date of hire.

Grade 13 and higher are eligible first day of the month after date of hire. 

Description

The Academic Retirement Plan (ARP) is the primary retirement plan for The Claremont Colleges. All faculty and staff (excluding students) are eligible to participate through voluntary elective deferrals upon date of hire. Eligible employees 50 years of age or older may contribute an additional “catch up” contribution. Eligible employees who exceed the social security taxable wage base will receive an additional 2% “step-up” contribution for the remainder of the calendar year. Contributions are vested 100% immediately upon participation in the ARP. 

Pet Insurance

For eligible full-time employees, Pomona College pays a maximum of 100% of tuition only for a half-time academic load per term. 

For eligible spouse, registered domestic partner and/or dependents, Pomona College pays a maximum of 50% of tuition only per term, not to exceed 50% of Pomona College tuition. 

Graduate Tuition Aid for Staff

Travel Accident Insurance
