The College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) has selected the Pomona College Band’s performance of the first three movements of Robert Russell Bennett’s Autobiography (1979) to be featured on the Small Band Programs Showcase at the CBDNA National Convention at Arizona State University in Tempe in late February 2019. Professor Graydon Beeks, director of the ensemble since 1983, will present a brief overview of the band program provided by Pomona College for the students, faculty and staff of The Claremont Colleges and residents of the surrounding communities, after which a recording of the performance will be played for the attendees. The recording, taken from the Band’s Alumni Weekend concert last spring, was chosen by a three-person jury from a nationwide pool of submissions on the basis of “outstanding performance.”
