New Student Information System (SIS), Portal Tool and FAQ

We are excited to announce that the undergraduate campuses of The Claremont Colleges are collaborating with Anthology to introduce a new student information system (SIS). As you know, the undergraduate colleges have been looking to replace the aging Jenzabar system for the past 6 years and have been working diligently to align the 5C’s cross-registration needs with this new, modern software. Finding a product that meets cross-registration needs has been challenging, but Anthology has these features built into the platform without massive customization. Anthology offers a modern SIS interface that will, over time, adapt to the Claremont College’s unique needs within a stable cloud-hosted environment.

Anthology SIS will support key functions such as:

  • Academic records
  • Course scheduling
  • Degree audits
  • Academic advising
  • Student accounts
  • Institutional research

Plans are being developed to offer training opportunities, based on your role, to help everyone familiarize themselves with the system’s interface and features. We think you’ll find this system intuitive and easy to navigate. You can even use the back button, too.

The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) hosts a web page with information on planning, testing, and project overview. In addition to the 5C Registrar's involvement in the implementation, this site lists the various technical and administrative teams across the 5Cs involved in this project. The site includes progress on various integrations, solving security concerns, FAQs, and general testing planning. We will provide periodic updates and timeline adjustments as this project progresses.

A separate but related project is implementing the new portal tool Pathify, which will replace the current my.pomona.edu environment.

For faculty and students, Pathify is the main gateway into Anthology SIS.

For staff, Pathify will be used to access Workday, timekeeping, Microsoft Office 365, job aids, quick links, HR forms, and all those other resources the current my.pomona.edu portal links to.

We are planning a soft launch for this portal tool this Spring semester 2025, and you will hear more about it next month.

Thank you for supporting the teams with these new, improved products. Please stay tuned for Pomona-specific training opportunities and a see below for the Pomona-specific FAQ.

General Anthology FAQ

Why has the launch of Anthology Student been postponed?

Recent testing by the SIS technical teams revealed significant data conversion errors that remain unresolved. Due to the complexity of converting data from a 20-plus-year-old system across five different colleges with a unique cross-registration setup, ensuring data accuracy is taking longer than initially anticipated. Proceeding with the launch in Summer 2025 is no longer feasible.

What are the new potential go-live dates for Anthology Student?

The five Claremont Colleges are currently evaluating two potential new go-live dates: December 3, 2025, or July 1, 2026. A final decision will be made in early May and announced to the community at an upcoming townhall meeting.

Will the delay in Anthology’s launch affect the timeline for other related projects?

Due to the delay, end-user training for Anthology is now expected to occur mid-semester of Fall 2025. Other related efforts, however, remain unimpeded. The SIS Project Team will continue to develop custom integrations for the Claremont Colleges and partner with the Anthology Team to deliver the expected customizations to support cross-registration. Likewise, the SIS delay will have no impact on the planned rollout of the new MyPomona Hub in late May 2025.

Why is Pomona College implementing the Anthology Student Information System?

The 5Cs' 20-year-old student information system, Jenzabar CX, is built on outdated, heavily customized and soon to be obsolete on-premises technology. This creates a fragile foundation for our academic operations. With dwindling expert support, Pomona and the other 5Cs urgently need a modern Student Information System (SIS) to meet the colleges’ unique needs for the foreseeable future.

Will Anthology Student be a shared system?

Anthology Student is a cloud-based solution that is being implemented in a single tenant serving all 5Cs. While it will be a shared system, Anthology Student’s customized security models will ensure that authorized individuals can only access the data for their respective campus.

What academic functions will the new SIS support?

Anthology Student will support key functions such as academic records, cross-registration, degree audits, student advising, student accounts, and institutional research among others. It is also possible to extend the functionality of the new SIS through the development of new custom features.

When will the colleges begin using it?

The go-live date for Anthology Student has been postponed due to significant data conversion errors identified during recent testing. The 5Cs are currently evaluating two new potential go-live dates: December 3, 2025, or July 1, 2026. A final decision is expected in early May, at which point an updated project calendar will be shared with the community. The original target go-live was Fall 2025, with Anthology Student becoming the new system of record on or before Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

Will there be training and support resources available?

Administrative users will be trained throughout the SIS implementation process. End-user training is now anticipated to occur mid-semester in Fall 2025, once the updated go-live date is announced and everyone is on campus. Job aids, multi-format reference materials, and TCCS Project Team support will also be made available to all Anthology users.

Will Anthology Student provide student account and billing information?

Anthology Student will provide a link for securely accessing the student billing system, CASHNet. CASHNet is configured to use Single Sign-On, so users will not need a separate set of login credentials.

Students Anthology FAQ

How will continuing students register for classes for the Fall 2025 semester?

All students that will be continuing their enrollment for Fall 2025, will pre-register for courses in April 2025 as they normally do through the campus portal (my.pomona.edu). Once Anthology Student goes live (either in December 2025 or July 1, 2026), all 5C students will use the new Anthology Student portal to register for courses.

How will new students register for classes for the Fall 2025 semester?

All undergrad students from across the 5Cs will use the new Anthology Student portal to register for courses prior to the start of the Fall 2025 semester. The timeline for first-year pre-registration is being moved to early August, regardless of the final Anthology go-live date. More detailed information about pre-registration for Pomona students will be shared at a later date.

How will Anthology Student be accessed?

Anthology Student will have a dedicated web address or URL that will require users to log in with their Pomona Single Sign-On (SSO) credentials. The live Anthology portal links will be shared at a later date. The SIS will also be accessible via the new campus engagement hub (See MyPomona Hub).

Will Anthology Student have a degree audit feature?

The new Anthology Student portal will include a dual feature called Anthology Degree Progress Audit and Degree Pathway, which will work similarly to the degree audit that is currently available through the portal.

Will I still be able to access my transcript records in Anthology Student?

The new SIS will contain 10 years of historical transcript records for all 5C students. Transcript records in Anthology Student will display all courses taken by a student in chronological order and will include program, area of study and degree progress information.

Will I still be able to request permission to enroll in a specific course while using Anthology Student?

The Anthology Student portal will give students the ability to request permission to enroll in a course. This custom feature is being developed for all 5Cs and will function much like the Permission to Enroll (PERM) request does in the portal today.

Faculty Anthology FAQ

How will I access my class rosters and advisee information in Anthology Student?

Anthology Student includes a dedicated faculty portal for managing grades, class rosters, and advising information. Pomona faculty should expect some changes to Pomona’s academic processes (e.g., new forms, approvals, system messages), which will be documented for training as the SIS implementation progresses.

Can students still request permission to enroll in my course(s) in Anthology Student?

The Anthology Student portal will give 5C students the ability to request permission to enroll in a course. Instructors will use the faculty portal to access and review these requests. It will function much like the Permission to Enroll (PERM) request does in the portal today.

Will the new faculty portal have all of the same features as the current portal?

Because Anthology Student and the current campus portal are built with different technology, only a small number of existing custom features are being replicated in Anthology Student and will be made available at go-live. Additional portal features, such as viewing First-Year advisee letters and links to administrative systems like Workday will be accessible through the new campus engagement hub (See MyPomona Hub).

How will data be synced between Canvas and Anthology Student?

A live data integration between the Canvas LMS and the new SIS is currently in development and is expected to go-live along with Anthology Student. Some course information from Canvas may also be viewable within the MyPomona Hub when it is officially launched at the end of Spring 2025.

Staff Anthology FAQ

Will all data from Jenzabar CX be migrated to Anthology Student?

Only the last 10 years' worth of historical data from CX will be imported into Anthology Student. Essentially, any student who has taken a course at any of the 5Cs since 09/01/2015 will have a record in Anthology Student. Note that the data points for imported student records may differ from those that are currently available in CX.

What is the last date to input data to CX?

Between June 16 – 30, 2025, all integrations with the Jenzabar CX system will be taken offline. During this quiet period, no changes will be recorded in CX. Any data coming from upstream systems during the 2-week quiet period will then be synced into Anthology Student after 7/1/25.

How will I access reports and historical data after Anthology Student goes live?

Pomona will continue to maintain and support the existing Cognos and Tableau reporting environments for a necessary transitional period in order to provide access to historical data prior to 2015. Any new SIS reports will be created in Microsoft Power BI, which is the native reporting tool for Anthology Student.

How will data integrations between the SIS and external systems be impacted by the move to Anthology Student?

The SIS Project Team has taken inventory of all the shared and campus-specific data integrations that rely on Jenzabar CX. These integrations are currently being redesigned to replace CX with Anthology Student as the system of record. A large part of these integrations will be developed and supported directly by Anthology. The remaining ones will fall under the purview of either TCCS or the individual colleges that utilize them.

MyPomona Hub FAQ

What is the MyPomona Hub and what system is it replacing?
