Commencement Ceremony
Seating Open to Guests: 8 a.m.
Ceremony Time: 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Post-Ceremony Reception Time: 12:45 p.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Marston Quad, Pomona College
Join the Class of 2025 Pomona College graduates at the Commencement Ceremony on Marston Quad. During the ceremony graduates will hear from honorary degree recipients, will receive their diploma, walk up on stage once they hear their name announced to be recognized by College leadership, and have a professional photograph taken. Tickets are not required for guests. A dessert reception on Marston Quad open to all graduates and their guests will follow the ceremony from 12:45 p.m. until 2p.m.

Get to campus early. Plan to arrive no later than 9:30 a.m. Pomona College parking is free and open to all attendees.

Guest Admission
Tickets are not required for either the ceremony or reception. Seating opens at 8 a.m. on Marston Quad and is on a first come, first served basis.
Accessible (ADA) Parking and ADA/Companion Seating
Accessible Parking: Guests who RSVP’d for accessible parking will be sent a parking pass and will need to PRINT THE PASS AND DISPLAY ON THE DASHBOARD to enter the designated lots on the parking map.
Guests forgetting their passes will need to give the attendant the name of your graduate, but please note only the number of spaces reserved under that name will be made available. If lots are full or you are just needing to drop off a loved one, please follow the Accessibility Drop-Off directions on the parking map.
At this time, our ADA lots are full and cannot accept further RSVPs. Guests needing accommodations can follow the Accessibility Drop-Off directions on the parking map. Golf cart shuttle service will also be available.
Accessible Seating: Guests who RSVP’d for accessible seating will need to show their RSVP at the designated seating areas on Martson Quad. These seating areas will be on the north and south sides of the Quad, closest to the stage. For lost or forgotten RSVPs, please provide the name of your graduate.
Assisted Listening Devices
Guests who RSVP’d for an assisted listening or translation (Spanish/Mandarin) device will need to show their RSVP at the Information/Assisted Listening Devices booth and leave an ID or license with the vendor as collateral for device return.
Bag Check
A bag check system will be in place to enter the ceremony on Marston Quad, so please plan to arrive early. Security staff will perform a cursory inspection of bag contents. Bags are limited to a maximum size of 8 inches by 5 inches by 1 inch.
Mask/Face Coverings: Prior to entering the commencement ceremony on Marston Quad, guests wearing masks or face coverings will be asked to temporarily remove them for identification purposes during the bag check.
Strollers and diaper bags are allowed but will be inspected during the bag search entering Marston Quad.
Guests may bring personal cameras into Marston Quad as long as they do not have detachable lenses and are small enough to fit into pockets unless otherwise specified.
Prohibited Items
For the safety and security of our guests, the following items are prohibited. All prohibited items must be returned to the owner’s vehicle or discarded prior to entry. The College is not responsible for items left behind, lost, stolen or damaged.
- Alcohol and smoking of any kind are prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vape pens, and smokeless tobacco.
- Animals (only service animals allowed)
- Artificial noisemakers (including air horns, thunderstix, musical instruments, cans filled with contents, whistles, cow bells, any other items used to make artificial noise)
- Balloons
- Banners, dry erase boards, signs
- Bicycles, hoverboards, longboards, scooters, skateboards
- Coolers and ice chests
- Drones, fireworks, laser pointers
- Glass and metal containers
- Poles, sticks, similar objects that can be used as a weapon
- Monopods, selfie sticks, tripods
- Large size umbrellas that may obstruct the view of other guests
- Weapons
Weather
The ceremony will take place outdoors, rain or shine, on Marston Quad with limited shade.
- There will be limited shade available during the commencement ceremony. We recommend sunscreen, hats, and protective sun wear to stay comfortable.
- Water hydration stations will be available, along with coffee.
In case of rain during the ceremony:
- Personal umbrellas are allowed.
- Rain ponchos will be available for guests.
Livestream
For guests who prefer to be indoors, the ceremony will be livestreamed in Bridges Hall of Music on Pomona’s campus. The ceremony will also be livestreamed on YouTube for those who would like to watch remotely.
Commencement Photography
During the Commencement ceremony, a professional photographer will take photos of seniors as they cross the stage and receive their diplomas. These photos will be made available to graduates and families at no cost. Instructions for downloading print quality photos from the photographer's digital gallery will be emailed following Commencement Weekend.
