ITS Welcomes Andrew Wilson

ITS is excited to welcome Andrew Wilson to the position of Director of Research Computing & Digital Scholarship. This newly expanded position will promote and support methods of research computing and digital scholarship in areas such as computer programming, text-mining, data visualization, network analysis, GIS mapping, and 3D modeling. In this capacity, Andrew will be working closely with our Deputy Chief Information Officer, Support and Instructional Services, Janet Russell, and our Director of High-Performance Computing, Asya Shklyar.

Andrew is keen to bring research insights into the classroom. Andrew will participate in new and established campus-wide efforts to support research computing, digital scholarship and pedagogy. In these efforts, Andrew will provide critical support for individual scholars, teams of faculty and students, and events aimed at exploring the role of digital practices on teaching and learning and the production of scholarship and creative work.

Andrew holds a Ph.D. in Computational Archaeology from the School of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology at The University of Liverpool in the UK. Andrew’s teaching experience ranges from courses in Digital Humanities and Computer Science to Archaeological Methods and Geographic Information Systems.
