Draper Center Student Coordinators

Hello! My name is Dania (she/her) and I am a senior at Pomona double majoring in Anthropology and Biology. I’m originally from New Haven, CT. I am one of the coordinators for the Food Recovery Network! I’ve been involved with Draper since my first semester on campus and I am so grateful to be a part of this wonderful community. When I’m not at Draper, you can find me working for The Student Life Newspaper, playing flute and piccolo in the Pomona College orchestra, and working in a Biology research lab. In my free time, I like taking long walks, rewatching TV shows, and cooking!

My name is Ethan (they/them), and I am a senior studying Neuroscience and Gender and Women's Studies at Pomona College. I will be a coordinator for Health Bridges this semester, and I'm excited to continue working to increase access to healthcare at the local hospital and throughout the Inland Empire! I am particularly passionate about mental health and hope to be a child and adolescent psychiatrist in the future. In my free time, I like going on runs or to the gym, as well as playing the clarinet.

Marina (she/her) is a senior neuroscience major at Pomona from Southern California and a coordinator for Health Bridges. She is passionate about partnering with communities to promote health and education, which has made the Draper Center one of her favorite spaces throughout her time at Pomona. Lately, her pastimes have been hiking, going to the beach, journaling, doing puzzles, and karaoke with friends.

Hey there! My name is Syd (they/them) and I am a senior at Scripps majoring in Feminist, Gender and Sexuality studies and minoring in Ethnomusicology. This will be my third year as a coordinator for Music Mentors since I started with the program as a volunteer during my freshman year. I play violin in the Claremont Concert Orchestra and I love teaching music to others. My favorite part about this program is watching our students learn to play their favorite songs on their instruments. In my free time I like to make jewelry and clothes and spend time in nature. :)

Hi! My name is Julie Chen (she/her) and I am a senior at Scripps College majoring in Psychology and minoring in Data Science. My hometown is Arcadia, California, which is only about 25 minutes from Claremont. At Draper, I am a co-coordinator for LINC! I’m passionate about volunteering with children and animals alike, and can often be found practicing music (the flute and double bass), jamming to Disney soundtracks, and aggressively (but lovingly) petting my dog and two cats. I am also an avid fan of roller coasters and escape rooms!

I am the newly appointed Coordinator for the ESL + Program! I am excited to continue and expand our mission of building thriving relationships with the 5C staff through tutoring, and I hope to get to work with you soon!

Hello! My name is Keli (She/Her), and I'm a senior at Pomona College majoring in Anthropology and minoring in French, though I transferred from Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA. I was adopted from China, raised across Hawai'i, California, and Tennessee; and currently call Los Angeles my home! I co-coordinate for the Food Recovery Network/Hunger and Houselessness Initiatives. There wasn't a volunteer networking program at my last college, and so participation in the Draper Center has been important and meaningful to me as a way to connect with, understand, and give back to the larger Pomona and Claremont communities. I've found Draper a rewarding opportunity to allow ourselves to be extended and expanded outside of our (though quite amazing) academic environment, and through FRN/HHI, I hope that we can help support our greater communities as much as they have supported us.

Hey everyone! My name is Benjamin Sauer (he/him) and I'm a sophomore in Pomona's 3-2 Transfer Engineering Program. I am a coordinator for the Music Mentor Program and I'm very excited to expand music education to the youth in our local communities. Playing Saxophone in middle through high school paved the way for me to college as it connected me with loads of scholarships and other opportunities. I want to help other young students find their path towards higher education with music. In my free time, I like running, chilling with my cousins, and of course, playing music.

Waddupppp! My name is Max (any pronouns)and I am a senior at Pomona College, my major is Africana Studies with a minor in Women and Gender Studies and I coordinate for PCCEC. I’m originally from Wisconsin (414!!) but I moved to California when I was 16 and haven’t looked back. I fell in love with the mountains and spend quite a lot of time hiking, backpacking, and sitting in random creeks reading. Aside from being outdoors, most of my time is spent reading from my library, playing Minecraft or Overwatch, and of spending the days with my partner.

Hi hi! my name is Werlie (she/her) and I am a senior from Orlando, Florida, studying PPE, with an Africana studies minor. I am a coordinator for Sista2Sista. I grew up in predominantly Black spaces, always surrounded by other Black women and sisterhood. So, I wanted to give that experience of sisterhood to other Black women who are not as fortunate as me to be able to grow and be in spaces where they can authentically be themselves. My favorite pastimes are crocheting, dancing, and watching an unhealthy amount of TV.

Hi everyone! My name is Lawrence Stampino-Strain (he/him) and I will be serving as a coordinator for Pomona Partners for the 4th semester in a row! I am a current senior at Pomona College who is double majoring in math and computer science, and I am nothing but excited to engage with Pomona Partners once again during my final year. Outside of the Draper Center, I am a member of the 5C Men's Volleyball Club team, I'm an RA, I'm a tour guide, and I am a mentor for math and computer science classes (my favorite subjects!). Above all, I always try to keep a positive attitude and spread as many smiles as I can, so feel free to say hello if you see me around!

Hi! I’m Paul Yan (they/he), a senior at Pomona College majoring in Public Policy Analysis/Economics and minoring in Asian American Studies. I’m from Miami and Hong Kong. I'm a co-coordinator for LEGS at the Draper Center and worked with PAYS for two summers as a TA. I'm extremely grateful to be able to be a mentor, especially to students coming from a similar background as I hope they can feel a sense of empowerment and know they are capable of anything they put their minds to! I love to listen to music, watch the stars, and eat everything. My favorite artists are SZA, BTS, Jhene Aiko, Summer Walker, and PND! My favorite foods are dumplings, sashimi, guacamole, and hot pot!
 

Hello! My name is Stefanie Howard (she/her). I am currently a senior at Pomona College majoring in Neuroscience . I coordinate volunteers for the Food Recovery Network. I am from a rural town in Indiana. I joined the FRN because as a first-gen low-income student I am familiar with the hopelessness of food insecurity. Many people in my community have supported my family and I when circumstances were tough. Through my actions with the FRN I can pass forward my community‘s generosity while affirming for others what it means to have a community that supports you.

Hey! My name is Leonardo Torres but most people just refer to me as Leo. I am a senior at Pomona College majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Data Science. I was born in LA and was raised most of my life in San Bernardino, which is just around 30 minutes from Claremont. I am currently a coordinator for the PAYS program which I have been involved with since I was a sophomore and even attended the program when I was in high school from 9th to 12th grade. I really love the community that PAYS has and it's wonderful to see the outcome of how this program positively impacts the students in the local area. Outside of the Draper Center, I enjoy spending my time exploring the village, drinking boba from Milk & Honey, helping others with their computer science homework as a TA, and overall just hanging with friends.

Hey y'all! My name is Edidya (she/her) and I'm a senior at Pomona College majoring in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from the metro Chicago area. I co-coordinate for the Sista2Sista (S2S) and PAYS programs. I became a coordinator because I want to be a figure younger people can look up to and guide/help them in whatever areas they need. Bridging barriers in educational access is incredibly important to me so I really enjoy the work I do. I LOVE reading, music, animals, sweet treats, and shows/movies that are comically bad.

Hi! My name is Mari (she/her) and I am a sophomore at Pitzer College, majoring in Economics and Environmental Analysis. I am from from Georgia (the country, not the state!). I'm the coordinator for Rooftop Garden! Besides the Draper Center, I'm also a fellow at the Robert Redford Conservancy so you will see me at the RRC events. In my free time, I love hanging out with my friends, spending time outside, and reading!

Hi, my name is Joanna (she/they)! I am a junior at Pomona College, majoring in Public Policy Analysis/Economics and Asian Studies. I am a coordinator for Rooftop Garden, which I joined in my first semester of college. Last year, I was also involved with the Draper Center as a San Francisco Alternabreak coordinator. In my free time, I enjoy playing the flute, practicing archery, puzzling, and, of course, gardening.

Abigail (she/her) is a senior at Pomona studying international relations and Middle Eastern studies and will serve as a Draper Center Coordinator for Health Bridges this year. Since joining in her freshman year, she has loved working alongside inspiring community leaders and her fellow volunteers to promote health equity in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. Her involvement as a volunteer has included launching a health equity speaker series, volunteering at Pomona Valley Hospital, and leading the Community Partnerships Pod, where she strengthened collaborations with MALO, ParkTree Community Health Center, and the Berger Institute. Abigail is passionate about global health equity and hopes to pursue a career with nonprofits working to ensure dignified and healthy lives among marginalized communities. Outside of Health Bridges and her classes, she is an avid runner, reader, and foreign language learner!

I am a coordinator for the LEGS program at the Draper Center. I mainly grew up in Claremont, but have lived in the IE for many years as well. I have a big passion for the arts and children's education. My hobbies include crocheting, playing the guitar, singing, dancing, and watching horrible romcom movies. I've been working with Rooftop Garden since my freshman year. Alongside Rooftop Garden, I work as an Eco-Rep with the Sustainability Office.

Hello! I'm Jimena (she/they), and I am a current junior at Scripps college pursuing a dual major in mathematics and economics. I will be coordinating for the Pomona College's Academy for Youth Success (PAYS) program. Being a PAYS alumna ('23) and coming from a first generation background has given me the drive to support current students in their own journey's. I believe that it has become crucial to involve myself in communities who face similar struggles and successes as mine. On campus, I participate in other programs such as Cafe con Leche, the Scripps Questbridge Chapter, Babes & Blankets, and even research. When I'm not working on problem sets or studying, I enjoy baking, crocheting, swimming, and playing Minecraft!

Hi! My name is Sarah Muller (she/her) and I am a sophomore at Scripps College. I am from Arcadia, CA (30 minutes from Claremont!) and I'm a co-coordinator for LINC. I am a Psychology and Linguistics double major with hopes of one day going into child psychology. Outside of Draper, I am a part of ballroom (CCBDC), Scripps OWL, and the Claremont Concert Orchestra. In my free time I'm either on a hike, reading, or struggling on a double bass piece in a practice room!
 

Hi, my name is Matthew (he/him), and I am a junior at Pomona majoring in neuroscience and minoring in music. I am from Los Angeles, CA, and this is my second year coordinating for Music Mentors! I have been playing both violin and piano since a young age and have always loved sharing my joy of music with younger students, as well as performing for those who may not have access to live music. Music Mentors is the perfect community for 5C students to teach music to young kids and inspire them to discover their own passion for it. In addition to music, I enjoy watching sports, playing golf, and hanging out with friends!

As a Sista to Sista mentor coordinator, I am extremely passionate about uplifting others and creating community. I am so proud to plan events and celebrate culture as apart of African Student Association and Black Student Union as the social media coordinator and secretary. My name is Chloe Mei Espinosa (two-word first name) and I’m a sophomore at Pomona College. I am from Newport Beach, California, so I love going to the beach and swimming in the ocean. I am a varsity athlete on the women’s water polo team; we recently won the NCAA D3 National Championship! I love to read, scuba dive, and play the guitar and piano – making music is one of my greatest passions, and I’m currently in a band on campus. Another passion is protecting our environment and oceans, which is why I founded Skip the Plastic Straw (skiptheplasticstraw.com), with the goal to reduce the use of single-use plastic straws. Lastly, I love helping others: the Pomona Partners Program has allowed me to be a support system for students in middle schools in Claremont. I’m extremely excited and grateful to be a student coordinator for the program and hopeful it will continue to grow!

Hello, my name is Isaiah Moliga-Puletasi (he/him)! I'm a Bay Area native who grew up in San Francisco and Daly City, however, I've also lived in Iowa and South Africa, and now, Claremont. I'm a city boy through and through, but, I love to spend time in nature in my off time. I enjoy reading nonfiction, writing journalistic pieces, dancing, art/art history, history, and am generally passionate about the intersections of media, storytelling, and social good. I work as a LEGS coordinator, where I support high schools in the greater Los Angeles Area with LGBTQIA+ programming and mentorship.
