My name is Kira, and I am from Seattle, WA. I am a Chemistry major on the pre-med track. I have enjoyed being with the AARC through STEP for the past couple of years. This year I am excited to be back with AAMP as a head mentor to engage with community on campus!

I am a PPE major from DC. I didn’t grow up with many Asian peers, so I love being a part of an Asian American community in college! I also loved being a part of AAMP in my freshman and sophomore year.

Hello! My name is Becca, and I’m from SoCal. I’m a junior at Pomona majoring in Art and Politics and am coming into the AARC as one of the Head Mentors for AAMP! I love food, film, music, and spending time with my loved ones. 

Fun Fact: I can blindfoldedly identify 15 different types of cheese by taste.

I am a sociology major and philosophy minor from Pearl City, Hawaii. I play volleyball and currently captain the Men’c Club Volleyball team at the 5c’s. As a Native Hawaiian, what brought me to the AARC was in search of other natives with similar experiences as me. I love mummies!

Hi, I am Tati and I am majoring in Public Policy/Chicanx-Latinx Studies. I was born on Ohlone Ramaytush land (San Francisco) and raised within the city’s Mission District. 
What brings me to AARC: A deep desire and commitment to connecting with Indigenous students on campus and across the 5C’s.

My name is Sharon, and I’m a NIRC intern! I am majoring in Molecular Biology, and in my free time, I love singing karaoke and playing volleyball. The AARC has given me a true sense of belonging and hope. During my time working here, I strive to give back by fostering the same loving and supportive space that has carried me through some of my hardest moments at college.

Hi I am Tate and I am a Biology Major with an Ecology focus, from the Bay area just North of San Francisco and I'm a member of the Qawalangin Tribe Of Unalaska. I'm at NIRC to explore more of my heritage and create a stronger and more close-knit indigenous community.

Fun Fact: I have a big scar on my arm from a Pelican bite!

Hi, my name is Avery! I was raised on the unceded Nisenan lands of Sacramento, California. In college, I'm majoring in Linguistics and minoring in Politics and Native American/Indigenous Studies. I'm passionate about Indigenous social activism and heritage language education through community organizing and nonprofit work, which brought me to the AARC and NIRC.

Fun Fact: I make beats!

I am a History and Politics double major at Pomona College, (hoping) to graduate in 2028! My hometown is Kahaluʻu, on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi, but I have also spent 7 years of my life in SoCal (Orange County mostly). I found myself at Pomona after submitting a late application and really wanting to get out of Hawaiʻi for a few years, and I love it here!

Fun Fact: I almost didn't go to college and went to culinary school.

I’m from Portland, Oregon. I am an Engineering 3-2 major with a passion for community engagement and helping to meet their needs. While my academia is centered in STEM, I have chosen to explore my values around community building and APIDA identity through AdBoard. I love being outdoors and am apart of flag football!

Fun Fact: I once sat down and folded a rainbow of 1000 paper cranes.

Hi! I’m a Scripps junior from Rancho Palos Verdes, CA double majoring in Politics & Writing and Rhetoric. I’m incredibly excited to be an AdBoard Student Coordinator this year and help build APIDA community across the 5Cs! Currently at Scripps, I am a co-head of the Asian American Student Union and a Collaboration Coordinator for the Asian American Sponsor Program. My involvements with the APIDA organizations at Scripps sparked my passion for cross-campus community building, especially as a vehicle for shared education and unified political action. I can't wait for the rest of the year!

I'm a CS + Math major from the Bay Area, California. I'm here to foster and strengthen the Asian community, especially the South Asian community, across the 5Cs through my work as an Adboard intern. I'm excited to help build connections that make the 5Cs feel more like home for everyone! 

Fun Fact: I love to sing and am in an A Cappella group here at the 5Cs (shoutout the Claremont Shades)!

I'm an Asian American studies and data science major from the San Gabriel Valley! I'm a part of the AARC because I'm passionate about bringing internationalist politics into Asian American spaces and forging deeper solidarities between communities of color. You can usually catch me frantically skating around campus with a cup of matcha I'm delivering to a friend, possibly you. ;)

Hi, my name is Lena! I'm a senior at Pomona majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Middle Eastern Studies. I’m Palestinian, born and raised in Sacramento, CA. I helped co-found the SWANA program at the AARC, and this year I’m excited to officially be interning at the AARC! Through this role, I hope to build solidarity between Southwest Asians and other Asian communities at the AARC and across the 5Cs, while also creating a space for SWANA folks that centers the SWANA (rather than MENA) identity.

Fun Fact: In high school, I learned how to write braille!

My name is Zeean (you can also call me Zee). I major in Public Policy Analysis with a minor in Asian American Studies. Right now, I'm proud to be the Co-President for Kasama - the 5C Filipinx club on campus. AARC and Kasama have both been my safe spaces on campus and I met a lot of my bestfriends there. <3

I’m a Critical Race and Ethnic Studies Major from Westport, Connecticut. With my work at the AARC, I hope to build power among Asian American communities.

Hello! I'm Victoria, a Pomona senior from Cincinnati, Ohio! I'm a double major in Sociology and Asian American Studies. I was drawn to the AARC because of their commitment to uplifting marginalized communities---even within the marginal. I hope to continue fostering care, representation, and belonging within the AARC's space of trust and kinship.

Fun Fact: I'm a triple Taurus (lowkey rare)!!

I'm a junior at Pomona majoring in Politics and Asian Studies! I'm from San Diego, CA but consider Taipei, Taiwan my second home. I believe that working within communities and grounding advocacy in lived experience is crucial to making change. At the AARC, I've loved working on STEP committee and making memories with the kids every Saturday!

I am a junior at Pomona College studying Public Policy Analysis/Chemistry. I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. I am excited to be coming back to the AARC for my second year! Since high school, I have always found it important for community organizing and advocacy to be genuinely rooted and directly interactive with the communities we are fighting for. As a member of the Pacific Islander Empowerment and Program for South Asian Voices committees, I am excited to contribute to this vision and work with local communities.

I'm a junior studying Public Policy Analysis, Economics, and East Asian History. I was actively engaged in the Asian American community in Chicago, where I led a civic engagement youth group, organized cultural dance showcases, mentored and tutored children of immigrants, and worked as a program assistant at local nonprofits. Wanting to continue that work in college and integrate myself with the community beyond the "Claremont Bubble," I joined the AARC during my sophomore year and have been here ever since!

I'm from Ventura County, CA, and I am double majoring in Asian American Studies & Environmental Analysis, with a concentration in Race, Class & Gender. I'm here because I am drawn to the AARC's foundational mission of building political power and mobilizing the Asian American student body toward liberation -- I see the AARC as a space to share counter narratives, build solidarities, and form meaningful relationships both on and off campus.

Hi everyone! My name is Dylan (she/her) and I'm a math major in my junior year. I'm from SoCal, a couple hours of driving west of Claremont. I was an AAMP Mentor last year, and the AARC became one of my favorite places to study, rest, and chat. To me, it provides an important space and community to understand our own identities, develop an understanding of others' experiences and scrutinize our own position, and work to uplift and support local communities. I'm so excited to work with my fellow AARC interns and to continue being part of this space!

Sabina Funasaki is majoring in Environmental Analysis. Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, she developed a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for environmental stewardship. She is excited to serve as an AARC intern because she enjoys working with people and building connections across the community. When she’s not in the AARC, you can find her giving tours around Pomona, helping out with the 5C Environmental Justice club, or surfing in the chilly SoCal waters.
