Matt has spent several years working in the Pomona College Office of Financial Aid. Born and raised in Michigan, he has been working in financial aid since 2005. Prior to joining Pomona College, he also spent time at the University of Notre Dame, Harvey Mudd College, and the University of California – Riverside. Matt has a robust student services and enrollment management portfolio and is passionate about financial aid outreach to ensure that all students have a financially viable path toward a college degree. Matt earned his BA from Notre Dame and his MA from the University of Toronto.
Uvaldo Calderon is an Associate Director of Financial Aid at Pomona College. Uvaldo received his BA in Economics in 2001 and worked in banking and finance until 2008 when he began working in financial aid. He has never looked back. As both a first generation college graduate and proud father of a recent college graduate, Uvaldo especially enjoys helping students and parents understand how financial aid works to make college more affordable.
Jessica joined Pomona’s Financial Aid Office in March of 2013. She is a native of California, and has lived nearby her whole life. She even attended Sycamore Elementary School here in Claremont. Jessica is the first in her family to attend college and attended Cal Baptist University in Riverside, to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Counseling/Psychology. Jessica enjoys the opportunity to support students on their quest to completing a college degree, and values the opportunity Pomona College gives to its students: Making college both affordable and attainable.
Fun Fact: Jessica enjoys watching her daughters play volleyball and run track. She also loves sports and is a HUGE Packers/Lakers Fan!
Daniela is a first-generation college graduate from UC San Diego, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Economics. While earning her degree, she worked as a high school math tutor and her joy for helping students only grew from there! While Daniela enjoys working with numbers, she really values assisting students to make sure they understand financial aid and making sure they feel supported.
Fun Fact: Daniela enjoys crafting!! She loves doing calligraphy, scrapbooking and recently started playing with wax stamp seals. She is also a huge Dodgers fan.
Jose is a first-generation college graduate from UCLA. He attained his bachelor's degree in Economics and minored in Public Affairs. While earning his degree, he worked in wealth management, investments, and finally strategy consulting. Following his true passions in life Jose pivoted his career to assist students pursue and attain a degree in higher education. Jose values his role as an advocate and a champion for low-income marginalized students. Jose makes sure to provide students with access and an understanding of their financial aid, while fostering an open and caring environment.
Fun Fact: Jose loves the outdoors; he enjoys camping, hiking, and exploring national parks. He enjoys playing billiards, basketball, and baseball. Favorite comfort food: Raspado (Shaved Ice)
Robin is an alumna of Pomona College, and received her BA in European History and was just shy of a minor in Philosophy (pro-tip: Academic planning, do it early and often), and later earned her Master of Business Administration from Claremont Graduate University. Robin began working in financial aid as a work-study student, which transformed into a career. Robin is currently leading the implementation to Workday Student for the financial aid office.
Robin grew up on Maui, in the small upcountry town of Kula. She enjoys gardening, baking, reading and going on adventures with her two young sons.
Dalia Vasquez is a proud Angeleno who joined Pomona College in November 2021. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Women and Gender Studies at Cal State Los Angeles. Her background consists of working with schools and Non Profits. She prides herself in giving back to her community and helping others in any way she can. Being the Administrative Assistant, she takes on work with dedication, a positive attitude, and has a passion in helping others.
Fun Fact: Dalia has seen her favorite artist more times than she can count on her fingers and toes!
