Alison joined Pomona as the Interim Director of Financial Aid in November 2020. She comes to Pomona from Duke University where she served as the Assistant Vice Provost and Director of Financial Aid for 12 years. At Duke, she was most proud of her role in developing the Rubenstein Scholars program and the Duke Women Launch career development program to assist first-generation low-income students access the resources the university had to offer. She came to Duke from 3 years as the Director of Financial Aid at Barnard College, her alma mater. Prior to Barnard, she worked as the Director of Student Financial Planning at Columbia after she finished her doctoral program in Organization and Leadership in Higher Education.
Fun Fact: Alison is the proud mother of 16-year old twin boys, Nathan and Daniel, who are beginning to test her patience as she begins to understand what it’s like to be the parent of college applicants.
Uvaldo Calderon is an Associate Director of Financial Aid at Pomona College. Uvaldo received his BA in Economics in 2001 and worked in banking and finance until 2008 when he began working in financial aid. He has never looked back. As both a first generation college graduate and proud father of a recent college graduate, Uvaldo especially enjoys helping students and parents understand how financial aid works to make college more affordable.
Jessica Dominguez joined Pomona’s Financial Aid Office in March of 2013. She is a native of California, and has lived nearby her whole life. She even attended Sycamore Elementary School here in Claremont, and recalls walking the Claremont Colleges as a child. Jessica attended Cal Baptist University in Riverside, to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Counseling/Psychology. Jessica is the first in her family to attend college and values the opportunity Pomona College gives to its students: Making college both affordable and attainable. Jessica has a passion for Higher Education, and enjoys the opportunity to support students in all aspects of their quest to completing a college degree
Fun Fact: Jessica enjoys spending time with her kids and watching her youngest daughter play volleyball. She also loves sports and is a HUGE Packers/Lakers Fan!
Tanya joined Pomona’s Financial Aid Office in August of 2019. Tanya brings with her a strong educational background and earned her BA in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and a MS in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Miami University in Ohio. As a first generation graduate, Tanya’s lifelong commitment to her community is to help students and their families realize that higher education is accessible and can be affordable with the right tools, resources, and guidance
Fun Fact: My go-to comfort-binge TV shows are: Friends, New Girl, Greys Anatomy, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and GOT.
Daniela is a first-generation college graduate from UC San Diego, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Economics. While earning her degree, she worked as a high school math tutor and her joy for helping students only grew from there! While Daniela enjoys working with numbers, she really values assisting students to make sure they understand financial aid and making sure they feel supported.
Fun Fact: Daniela enjoys crafting!! She loves doing calligraphy, scrapbooking and recently started playing with wax stamp seals. She is also a huge Dodgers fan.
Robin is an alumna of Pomona College, and received her BA in European History and was just shy of a minor in Philosophy (pro-tip: Academic planning, do it early and often), and later earned her Master of Business Administration from Claremont Graduate University. Robin began working in financial aid as a work-study student, which transformed into a career. Robin is currently leading the implementation to Workday Student for the financial aid office.
Robin grew up on Maui, in the small upcountry town of Kula. She enjoys gardening, baking, reading and going on adventures with her two young sons.
Billy’s first memories of Pomona College take him back to his high school days attending volleyball games with his cousins at Rains Center, watching a Harry Blackstone Jr. Magic show at Big Bridges and getting kicked out for playing basketball at the Old Ducey Gym because he wasn’t a valid student. He graduated from Biola University with a degree in Organizational Leadership and after working at another college as a financial aid counselor for two years, Billy came to Pomona College in February 2017 as an Administrative Assistant.
Fun Fact: Enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and aussiedoodle Kona, watching his beloved Lakers and helping out his parents’ market which they have owned in the city of Chino for 40+ years.
