Proposing a New Language Table

Language Table Proposal Deadline

  • Returning Language Tables: Friday, September 4, 2026
  • New Language Table: Friday, September 11, 2026

How to Submit a Language Table Proposal & Criteria

To propose a new language table, please email the staff at Oldenborg at oldenborg@pomona.edu with the following information:

  • Who will be mentoring the table?
    • Language tables must have at least 2 students OR 1 staff/faculty member from the 7Cs with advanced or native proficiency of the language to mentor the table
    • Mentor(s) must be able to commit to holding their table on the same day each week throughout the semester (barring, of course, emergencies or illness)
  • Which days is/are the mentor(s) available to hold the table?
    • Note: Due to the restrictions of the current location in Frank Dining Hall, the following options are available for languages not taught at Pomona College:
      • Monday – Thursday: 1 table (8 participants or fewer expected)
      • Friday: 2 or more tables (greater than 8 participants expected)
  • Approximately how many people you think will attend the table consistently during the semester.

Once we receive this information, our staff will schedule a meeting with the prospective table mentor(s) to ask more about the proposed table and discuss policies and expectations.
