The Dean’s Discretionary Fund (DDF) application is for the express purpose of ad-hoc, one-time funding requests that are not covered by our current grant offerings, your external funding, your department or program’s operating budget, or your department or program’s gift funds.
“Discretionary” funding is limited and comes from different sources depending on the purpose of the request. Any funding requests that you would typically make of the Dean of the College, the Associate Dean budget analysts, and other Dean’s Office administrators should be submitted through the DDF application.
Before applying, please read the criteria and guidelines carefully to ensure that the Dean's Discretionary Fund is the appropriate avenue for submitting your request:
- Before applying, please work with your department chair or program coordinator to determine whether your department or program's current operating budget or gift funds will cover your request.
- The DDF cannot cover recurring costs. Approval of costs that are typically recurring (such as memberships, subscriptions) does not guarantee subsequent renewal of funding.
- The DDF is not applicable if your request falls under any of our current grant offerings. The DDF may be applied toward requests that fall under our current offerings, but exceed the maximum offered. For current offerings, see Faculty Funding Sources.
