Nancy Treser-Osgood ’80 is being honored for almost five decades (and counting) of serving Sagehens with the 2025 Alumni Distinguished Service Award.
Crossing the finish line as a Pomona College graduate turned into the starting line of Nancy Treser-Osgood’s decades-long marathon of Sagehen support — and she’s still running.
Treser-Osgood, a member of the Class of 1980, has gone from being a volunteer caller for Admissions to volunteering as an alumni career advisor for the Career Development Office to managing volunteers as the head of Pomona’s alumni relations staff. She has also been actively supporting her reunion committee and Sagehen Athletics.
“Nancy has continued to be engaged in the College community on multiple levels and is among the most loyal and committed of Sagehens,” Alumni Association Board member Renee Dupont ’80 P’09 ’14 says.
After almost five decades of giving back to Pomona, Treser-Osgood is being recognized for her dedication by the Alumni Association Board with the Alumni Distinguished Service Award. This award is given annually to alumni in recognition of their selfless commitment and ongoing volunteer service to the College.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to be included among the 54 amazing alumni who have received this recognition,” says Treser-Osgood. “It’s also been a privilege to support the volunteer work of many of these devoted alumni honorees throughout my career at Pomona.”
Treser-Osgood’s relationship with Pomona began in 1974 when her older brother, David Treser ’78, enrolled as a first-year student. Two years later, she herself enrolled and was excited to spread her own wings as a Sagehen— and, as luck would have it, she and David were both assigned to Clark V residence hall that year.
Ultimately, she found her second home on campus with Pomona-Pitzer Athletics, where she participated in almost every way imaginable: student athletic trainer, varsity volleyball player, basketball statistician, club sports supervisor, intramural referee and assistant volleyball coach for the men’s club team.
“Athletics was a huge part of my Pomona identity,” Treser-Osgood says. “I may have spent more time in the gym than anywhere else on campus.”
The gym was also where she first met Sagehens basketball player Peter Osgood ’81. The couple got to know each other better when Peter, then an assistant dean in Pomona Admissions, volunteered to help at her 5th reunion dinner during Alumni Weekend. It wasn’t long before “chirps” flew between them, Treser-Osgood says, and they were married in 1989.
Knowing Treser-Osgood’s love for Pomona blue, Peter encouraged her to apply for an assistant director position in the Alumni Relations Office. She was hired by the late Pomona alumni relations director Lee Harlan ’55, whom Treser-Osgood credits as an amazing mentor who taught her about the field.
From the very beginning, Treser-Osgood forged partnerships with faculty, staff and students to build alumni volunteer programs supporting all facets of the college experience. As the College’s director of Alumni Relations, she led a transformational restructuring of the 60-member Alumni Council into a 20-member Alumni Association Board, which included the addition of new Admissions, Annual Giving and Career Development Office (CDO) representative roles to strengthen the alumni volunteer connection. She also boosted alumni engagement at Pomona by reimagining traditional events, launching new programs and expanding Alumni Weekend programming.
Throughout the years, Treser-Osgood remained connected to Sagehen Athletics as well, serving as the secretary for the Pomona-Pitzer Athletics Hall of Fame selection committee for nearly 30 years. She was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 2023 for her unwavering support of Sagehen Athletics.
“It feeds my heart and soul to offer my time, talents and treasures to Pomona College,” Treser-Osgood says.
Now a senior consultant with The Phoenix Philanthropy Group, which provides services to nonprofits, Treser-Osgood’s ties to the College remain strong. The Osgoods live near campus, and her eldest son, Aidyn, is a visiting assistant professor at Pomona. She continues to champion Pomona alumni connections as a volunteer and faithfully serves on her Class of 1980 reunion committee.
Treser-Osgood, who earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the College and a master’s degree in religious education from the Claremont School of Theology, says she can’t imagine her life without Pomona.
“The College has transformed my life in so many ways,” she says. “I received a world-class education at Pomona and learned even more outside of the classroom through my interactions with students and alumni.”
