The Sagehen Way: Dos and Don’ts

As he begins his term as Alumni Association Board president, Robi Ganguly ’00 (left) encourages students to tap into the Sagehen network early — and alumni to keep flocking back to the nest.

Robi Ganguly ’00 officially assumed the role of president of the Pomona College Alumni Association Board on July 1, stepping into leadership with a clear sense of momentum — and a desire to give back. Drawing from his own journey, Ganguly offers practical and personal advice for students and alumni navigating their next chapters: stay connected, remain open to opportunity and carry forward the values that define the Sagehen community.

Sagehen Students

Do: Join Sagehen Connect and find alumni who are willing to be Sagecoaches (mentors).

Do: Reach out to alumni, find time to ask them real questions about their paths, their challenges and how they’re navigating them.

Do: Email me at Alumni.Board.President@pomona.edu to request help or support from the Alumni Board in your journey.

Don’t: Just don’t reach out to alumni for a job in your second semester of your senior year. Instead, treat them as people who walked in the same places you did and who are probably still trying to figure out what they want to be when they grow up.

Sagehen Alumni

Do: Stay connected! Keep in touch with your friends and classmates — today’s a great day for a heartfelt text to an old friend or a phone call to catch up with a Sagehen who matters to you.

Do: Make sure Pomona knows how to contact you. Update your contact information today. Every year the College loses touch with a lot of alumni just because we don’t know where to send your calendar!

Don’t: Miss your reunion! Every year, more than 1,200 Sagehens show up on campus in Claremont. They get to see friends who shaped their lives and share laughs and hugs. Mark your calendars for Alumni Weekend at Pomona — April 29-May 2, 2027.
