Stories of Sagehen Impact

Andrew Brown ’77 has given to the Annual Fund for 45 years, starting with just $20. His story inspired the "Give like Andrew" campaign, which encouraged alumni to give back, leading to an overwhelming response. 

Richard Chamberlain ’56 died March 29, 2025, at 90. This story by Marjorie L. Harth, titled “Prisms of the Heart,” was published in the Winter 2003 issue of Pomona College Magazine.

Shortly after graduating, Chloe Kellison ’23 made her way into the West Wing, serving as a press assistant for President Joe Biden for 15 months.

Conducting research as Pomona College students led to successful careers for Tom and Patty Pollard ’64 P’95. Now, it’s the inspiration behind their $1 million legacy gift to support the College’s Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP).

Dr. W. Benton Boone ’62, Louise Bryson, Justice Halim Dhanidina ’94 and David W. Oxtoby will address graduates at Pomona College’s 2025 Commencement ceremony to be held Sunday, May 18, at 10 a.m. on Marston Quad on the Pomona College campus. 

Dr. Pamela Sutton '69 has had an impressive career as a palliative care doctor and world traveler. She credits Pomona College for giving her the passion for global exploration and the foundation to pursue her dream of being a doctor.

With 16 Fulbright U.S. students this academic year, Pomona tied at No. 2 with Amherst and Barnard Colleges among baccalaureate institutions nationwide.

Erica Dobbs, assistant professor of politics at Pomona College, has received a grant of $48,036 from the Russell Sage Foundation to study the effectiveness of efforts to unionize workers in the South using the Justice for Janitors model. 

During his two-year term, Mac Barnett '04 will travel the country championing children’s picture books as a quintessential American art form.
