Hello Sagehens!
We are a little more than four weeks away from our first members of the Class of 2030 and new transfers arriving on campus. We are excitedly finalizing the orientation schedule and getting ready to have you join us on campus.
But we still have a few things to do ... which is why this special edition has four things (I know, I know, but we believe in you):
- Today we will launch three required online modules. You will receive an email invite from “Catharsis” with 3 different links, one for each module. All three must be completed by August 5. You can find more information here.
- First is “U GOT THIS!” a sexual assault and consent online training from Title IX & Campus Advocacy, Resources, Education, and Support (CARES) Office. If you have questions, please email cares@pomona.edu.
- Note: This training will discuss topics related to sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and other forms of sexual violence. If this content becomes triggering or you would like to speak to a confidential resource, you may contact the resources on this list: On-Campus and Off-Campus Resources for Confidential Support.
- You will also complete “BINGE THINKING,” a module that looks at alcohol and other drug use and responsible choices. This is part of our holistic wellness program and is overseen by the wellness team in the Dean of Students Office For more information, contact studentaffairs@pomona.edu.
- Finally, “CLEAR THE HAZE” will present an overview of how to recognize and report hazing at Pomona College. For more information, email Dean Eisenberg.

- Placement exams are live! If you’d like to enroll in Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Russian, Spanish, music theory, Chemistry 51, or economics this fall, navigate to Canvas using your Pomona credentials. The exam sites will be on your Canvas dashboard. The deadline for most exams is July 20, so we recommend completing them ASAP! For all other language placement exams and deadlines, check out the Foreign Language Resource Center site.
- Next Wednesday’s Sagehen Summer workshop is required. In this workshop, you’ll meet with a faculty mentor who will help you select classes for pre-registration. You’ll receive an email prior to Wednesday (July 15) with instructions and your dedicated Zoom link. While we strongly recommend attending the live session so you can ask your questions, the email will also include instructions for fulfilling this requirement if you are unable to attend. Our faculty look forward to meeting you!
And, fourth but not least:
- The deadline for Orientation Adventure preferences is Friday, July 10. Please make sure to fill it out if you have not already.
Please be aware that there have been errors with submitting the Pali Adventure waivers. The form may not properly submit if you are currently less than 18 years old but will be by the time OA begins. If you receive this error, please submit the preference form without the Pali Adventure waiver and we will follow up prior to OA.
Respectfully,
Josh Eisenberg, dean of campus life
