Stories of Sagehen Impact

Barbara Neukom Bohn ’61 embodied global citizenship, dedicating her life to cross-cultural understanding. From Pomona College to Asia and beyond, she championed diplomacy, education and humanitarian efforts, leaving a legacy of grace and purpose.

Her Sagehen career complete, Hannah Gough ’25 has her sight set on making the Australian national team bound for the 2026 World Cup in Tokyo and the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

More than 90 Sagehens explored career paths through PCIP internships this summer — from film sets to research labs and nonprofits. With financial barriers removed, students gained hands-on experience, built networks and deepened their learning.

Alex Uballez ’08, a former U.S. attorney for the District of New Mexico, is one of several declared candidates for the top executive position in Albuquerque. His path to the mayor’s seat began at Pomona College two decades ago.

A State of the College Address delivered by Pomona President G. Gabrielle Starr reflected on the College’s origin and shed light on what lies ahead. Students, staff, faculty and administrators celebrated the day with a lunch on Marston Quad.

Hundreds of Pomona College students who completed internships, research or creative projects in the summer showed off their work in poster form at last month’s Intensive Summer Experience (ISE) Symposium.

Joe Cookson ’25 finished his career at Pomona one of the most prolific scorers to don blue and orange. He signed a contract this summer to play professional basketball with Finland’s Kipina Basket Aanekoski, whose season starts in October.
