Student Affairs at Pomona College fosters the holistic development of students by focusing on personal and social responsibility, co-curricular education, and community engagement on and off campus. Pomona College complies with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 as amended, and other applicable state and federal law prohibiting discrimination against individuals with disabilities. The College is committed to providing appropriate services and reasonable accommodations for students who need them.  Students and parents/guardians are encouraged to speak to the College’s specialist in disability accommodations regarding potential accommodations and the required paperwork.

The Dean of Students Office is committed to providing equal access and reasonable accommodations, where appropriate, for qualified disabled students. The College will continue to develop and coordinate policies and procedures, provide services, and insure access to academic programs, activities, and facilities.

Getting Started with Pomona College Disability Services

Documentation of a Disability must appear on official letterhead from a licensed medical or diagnostic professional and include a diagnosis, scope or degree of involvement, and summary of related functional limitations. The documentation may be a letter or the completion of the disability documentation form. The only exception relates to learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders. In those cases a formal evaluation must be submitted to disabilities services.

After documentation of a disability is provided and a needs assessment completed, reasonable accommodations are determined. Disability Coordinator will provide a formal notification that includes: (a) verification of disability and status as a student and (b) an list of reasonable accommodations.


The Dean of Students/Disability Coordinator adheres to strict standards of confidentiality in the management of student information. Since the Disability Coordinator is the only holder of disability documentation, all disability-related documentation should be directed to disabilityservices@pomona.edu. When it is necessary to connect to the medical provider for continuity of services, please complete the release of information form.

Requesting Accommodations

Pomona College recognizes that accommodations may be required in order to assist individuals in maximizing their educational experience. While the college provides reasonable accommodations, we do not change essential academic requirements. Accommodation determinations are based on documentation and individualized needs assessment.
